If an applicant cannot travel to La Paz due to altitude-related health problems, s/he has the option of scheduling a visa appointment in Asuncion, Paraguay. Visa interviews in Bolivia are only available in La Paz.
In order to request an appointment for interview in Asuncion due to altitude-related health problems only, the applicant must send an email to consularlapaz@state.gov and include the following information:
- Full Legal Name of the Applicant
- Date and Place of Birth
- Purpose of Travel
- Nationality
- Past Visa Denials
- Occupation (Position, Employer, Number of Years With the Company)
- Documentation regarding the Applicant's Finances and Property (If possible, scan the documents)
The request MUST be supported by a medical certificate issued by one of the U.S. Embassy panel physicians listed below.

It is the applicants' responsibility to pay for the medical certificate.
The applicants will be notified by the Consular Section through an email of the date and time of their interview in Asuncion.
Once applicants receive confirmation of their appointment in Asuncion, they must complete the DS-160 application for a visa electronically and pay the non-refundable visa application fee at the bank in Paraguay. Please visit http://paraguay.usvisa-info.com for more information.
