Visa Renewal

When registering and scheduling an appointment through this site, an applicant may select "Pleasure/Business - Renewals (B1/B2)" if:

  1. The applicant has a multiple-entry B1/B2 visa;
  2. The visa is either unexpired, or expired less than four years ago;
  3. The applicant is applying for another B1/B2 visa for tourism or business;
  4. No visa application has been denied since the issuance of the visa they want to renew; and
  5. If the applicant is not Dominican, they must legally reside in the Dominican Republic (foreign residents should present their residency card at the time of the interview)

Renewals for applicants under the Age of 14 and over the Age of 79:

Some applicants may not have to make a personal appearance to submit their application and documents. If the applicant meets the six requirements below, they may have an immediate family member deliver the application to the Consular Section.

Personal Appearance Waived for the Interview if the applicant:

  1. Has a multiple-entry B1/B2 visa;
  2. Has a visa which has either not expired, or expired less than four years ago;
  3. Is applying for another B1/B2 visa for tourism or business;
  4. Has not been denied a visa since the issuance of they visa they want to renew;
  5. Is not Dominican, in which case they must legally reside in the Dominican Republic (foreign residents should present their residency card at the time of the interview); and
  6. Is a child under the age of 14 and an adult over the age of 79.

Applicants who do not require personal interviews must:

  • Collect the required visa application documents and send them to the Consular Section with an immediate family member. (It is not necessary to schedule an appointment to drop off the application and documents.)
  • The application package must include:
    • The complete DS-160 visa application
    • Applicant's valid passport
    • All required documents
    • MRV fee payment confirmation

The hours for depositing visa renewals for applicants under the age of 14 and over 79, is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 12pm until 2:30pm.

Present All Your Passports at the Interview

If you are renewing your visa, please remember to bring all your current and expired passports covering the entire time period that your visa was valid. Applicants with double nationality should present passports for both countries. It's important that you present all your passports when you apply for your visa renewal so that the consular officer can review your travel patterns for the complete time period that you held the visa. If you do not present all requested passports, you could be required to complete a personal interview in order to decide your case.

Important: Applications will not be accepted for the following reasons:

  • If the application has been sent by courier to the Consular Section.
  • If the applicant does not meet the criteria of qualifying for renewal.
  • If the minor applicant does not include the notarized statement of consent and the copies of the parents' visas.

In some cases, the Consular Section will contact the applicant to request a personal interview.

Note: If applicant is renewing a visa but does not have the passport with previous visa because the passport or visa was lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, please follow the procedures of applying for a visa for the first time. If the passport was water damaged, please follow the renewal procedures above.
