Each visa application is unique. Most applicants that apply for a nonimmigrant visa are required to schedule an appointment and be interviewed. However, applicants who qualify for our visa renewal program need only schedule an appointment and come to the Consular Section to present their documents and be fingerprinted. In most cases, No further interview will be required.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply for a visa renewal appointment with interview waiver:
- The applicant must be an Ecuadorian citizen holding a valid Ecuadorian passport, or a foreigner permanently residing in Ecuador whose most recent visa was issued in Ecuador;
- The applicant is renewing a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) valid for 5 or 10 years;
- The visa to be renewed must be currently valid or have expired less than two years prior to the date the application is submitted;
- The applicant has not been refused a visa since the last visa was issued or had a visa revoked. Applicants do not qualify for the renewal process if their most recent visa was lost or stolen;
- For a minor renewing a visa, at least one parent must have a valid Visitor Visa (B1/B2) or be eligible to use the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

Important: Applications for minors will not be accepted without a notarized statement of consent, birth certificates, and copies of the parents' visas or VWP-compliant passports.
