Travel Documents for Children under 16 years of age:
There are two ways for children under 16 years of age to enter the U.S
- The child holds his/her own passport.
- The child is entered in the passport of the parent with whom the child will be traveling.
In case you are traveling with a minor who is not your child, a parental consent/power of attorney is recommended so that, in the case of an emergency, the necessary action can be taken in the absence of a parent. It is also recommended that every traveler have his/her own passport.
Please note that children traveling under the Visa Waiver Program must have their own, individual, passport.
