Fee Payment Options

Effective, Friday, April 13, 2012, there will be changes in the Visa Application Fee (MRV fee). Please note: Any fees paid prior to Friday, April 13, 2012 remain valid for one year from the date of payment. There will be a 90 day grace period after which the difference between the old rate and the new rate must be paid at the Consular Section cashier. No refunds will be available to applicants who paid the higher fee.

The changes in the Visa Application fee (also known as the MRV fee) are:

The visa application fee is determined by the type of visa for which the applicant is applying.

Nonimmigrant visa application fees (also known as "MRV fees") are the equivalent of:

  • USD$160 for most visas that do not require a petition.
    • Examples of visas in this category are:
      • Visitor Visa for business/pleasure (B1/B2),
      • Exchange Visitor Visa (J),
      • Student Visa (F),
      • Non-Academic Student visa (M)
      • Information Media Representative visa (I),
      • Crew visa (C1/D),
      • Any other visa class not specifically named as requiring higher-tiered fees.
  • USD$190 for petition based visas:
    • Examples of visas in this category are:
      • Temporary workers and trainees(H),
      • Intracompany transferees (L ),
      • Persons with extraordinary ability (O),
      • Athletes, artists, and entertainers (P),
      • International cultural exchange visitors (Q),
      • Religious Workers (R).
  • USD$240 for FiancĂ©(e) (K) visas.
  • USD$270 for all E category nonimmigrant visas [Treaty Trader (E-1), Treaty Investor (E-2) and Australian Worker (E-3) visa)].

Fees for Mexican Minor Children Applying for Visitor (B1/B2) visas

  • For Mexican minors under 15 years of age who are applying for a Border Crossing Visitor Visa (BCC or BCV) only, the fee is the equivalent of USD$15 when the following conditions are met:
    • At least one parent or legal guardian is applying at the same time for a Visitor Visa/BCC; or
    • At least one parent or legal guardian is Mexican and holds a valid 10-year Visitor visa.
  • Notice: If the applicant's parent(s) choose to pay the USD$15 fee, the visa will be valid for 10 years or until the minor turns 15 years old, whichever comes first. Once the applicant has paid the USD$15 fee and used it to apply for a visa, the decision to pay the USD$15 cannot be changed and the difference in the two fees cannot be paid at the consular section.

Reciprocity Fee

  • Depending on the applicant's country of citizenship and the type of visa being applied for, the applicant may also be required to pay a fee for visa issuance, known as a reciprocity fee. MRV Fee Payment Options for Mexico

All Nonimmigrant visa applicants must pay the Nonimmigrant visa application processing fee (MRV) prior to scheduling an appointment through this service. This fee is nonrefundable and nontransferrable regardless of whether a visa is issued.

The fee can be paid using the following options:

Using this Web site

Cash at Scotiabank or Banamex, or Credit Card Online

  1. Please log into the Web site using the applicant's passport number, date of birth and nationality.
  2. Follow the Web page instructions to select applicant's trip purpose, preferred Consulate to schedule an appointment, and other pertinent details related to the visa application.
  3. While following the steps on the Web site, the applicant will be asked to either make a payment or to confirm the payment has already been made by using a "MRV Fee Receipt Number."
  4. Payment can be made using the following options:
    • Credit Card: Visa, MasterCard, or American Express
      1. Please select the appropriate credit card from the provided list.
      2. Follow directions to complete the transaction.
    • Cash at Scotiabank or Banamex
      1. Please select Cash.
      2. Click on the "PDF" link next to the "MRV Fee Receipt Number" box.
      3. Print the electronic generated deposit slip for each applicant.
      4. Complete the relevant information.
      5. Take the deposit slip(s) to the bank and pay.
      6. The "MRV Fee Receipt Number" is located at the top of the deposit slip.
        • Note: Each applicant requires a separate "Receipt Number."
      7. Return to this Web site and enter the "MRV Fee Receipt Number" when asked to provide it.
Credit Card through the Telephone
  1. Call our service to pay by Visa, MasterCard or American Express using an interactive voice system.
  2. Click here for telephone numbers and other access information.
  3. Once the credit card information is approved, the caller will be provided a confirmation number.
  4. This confirmation number is required to submit the visa application and schedule an appointment.
  5. The caller must write down the confirmation number, there will not be a way to retrieve it later.
