Most applicants are required to appear personally at the Consular Section to apply for a U.S. visa. However, certain applicants may be exempted from that requirement based on their age.
Applicants may courier in the application through DHL, if the applicant meets the criteria below:
- A child under 14 years of age, who has at least one parent who holds a current or prior U.S. visa or holds a Visa Waiver Program (VWP)-compliant passport.
- A copy of the parent's visa(s) must be included with the child's visa application, as well as a notarized letter of consent from both parents.
- Applicants age 80 or over.
Applicants who do not require personal interviews must:
- Register an account through this Web site and send the application(s) in by DHL courierat no additional cost.
- If couriering in documents the applicant will not need to schedule an appointment but must enter all personal data and information, including selecting a DHL pick-up location in this Web site. See "Courier Information" on the left-hand menu for details.
- Please select appointment type and print out the confirmation page that instructs DHL to accept your package at no additional charge.
- The application package sent via DHL must include:
- The complete DS-160 visa application
- Applicant's valid passport
- All appropriate documents
- MRV fee payment confirmation
Note: Applications will not be accepted if dropped off at the consular section, or by different courier. Applications for children must include a notarized statement of consent from each parent, and a copy of a parent's visa or VWP passport. In some cases, the Consulate will contact the applicant to request a personal interview.
