The visa application fee is determined by the type of visa for which the applicant is applying.

All Nonimmigrant visa applicants must pay the Nonimmigrant visa application processing fee (MRV) prior to scheduling an appointment through this service. This fee is nonrefundable and nontransferrable regardless of whether a visa is issued.

Nonimmigrant visa application fees (also known as "MRV fees") are the equivalent of:

  • USD$160 for most visas that do not require a petition.
    • Examples of visas in this category are:
      • Visitor Visa for business/pleasure (B1/B2),
      • Exchange Visitor Visa (J),
      • Student Visa (F),
      • Non-Academic Student visa (M),
      • Information Media Representative visa (I),
      • Crew visa (C1/D),
      • Any other visa class not specifically named as requiring higher-tiered fees.
  • USD$190 for petition based visas:
    • Examples of visas in this category are:
      • Temporary workers and trainees(H),
      • Intracompany transferees (L ),
      • Persons with extraordinary ability (O),
      • Athletes, artists, and entertainers (P),
      • International cultural exchange visitors (Q),
      • Religious Workers (R).
  • USD$240 for Fiancé(e) (K) visas.
  • USD$270 for all E category nonimmigrant visas [Treaty Trader (E-1), Treaty Investor (E-2) and Australian Worker (E-3) visa)].

Reciprocity Fee

Depending on the applicant's country of citizenship and the type of visa being applied for, the applicant may also be required to pay a fee for visa issuance, known as a reciprocity fee. The applicant may obtain this information by visiting the following Web site: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html.

To pay the MRV fee with cash at any National Commercial Bank location, follow these steps:

  1. Click "Sign In" at the top right of this screen to register on the website and choose your trip purpose. When you reach the webpage requesting your payment, click on the appropriate PDF link to print the MRV Payment Slip.
  2. Take the MRV slip to any National Commercial Bank location and pay the MRV fee. Keep the receipt portion of the slip after paying. This receipt is necessary to complete the process.
  3. After payment, wait two business days for the payment to process.
  4. After two business days, log into this website (see Step 1), navigate to the payment webpage, enter the receipt number from the MRV slip in the field provided on the MRV fee receipt webpage and click "Submit."
  5. The next webpage will open to the appointment calendar, where you can select and schedule an appointment.

To pay by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) on this website:

  1. Click on "Sign In" at the top right of this screen to register on the website and choose your trip purpose. When you reach the webpage requesting your payment, click on “Credit Card Selection.”
  2. Enter all required fields to complete the transaction.
  3. After the transaction is approved, click "Continue" to proceed to the appointment calendar.

To pay by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) over the phone:

  1. Dial the appropriate phone number.
  2. Select your language.
  3. Select NIV.
  4. Select "Pay Your Visa Application Fee."
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the credit card transaction. Listen carefully and write down the MRV fee confirmation number.
