Effective, Friday, April 13, 2012, there will be changes in the Visa Application Fee (MRV fee). Please note: Any fees paid prior to Friday, April 13, 2012 remain valid for one year from the date of payment. There will be a 90 day grace period after which the difference between the old rate and the new rate must be paid at the Consular Section cashier. No refunds will be available to applicants who paid the higher fee.
The changes in the Visa Application fee (also known as the MRV fee) are:

CSC collects U.S. Machine-Readable Visa application fees (MRV fees) on behalf of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi. The MRV fee is determined by the type of visa for which the applicant is applying.
MRV FEE PAYMENTS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Once paid, this fee is valid for one year from the payment date and can only be used for U.S. visa applications submitted in Kenya. If the MRV Fee Receipt Number is lost before use, the applicant may have to pay an additional MRV fee to schedule an appointment.

If you have paid your MRV fee, your MRV Fee Receipt Number is not immediately valid in our system. There is a delay between the time you make your payment and when you can use your MRV Fee Receipt Number to schedule an appointment.
It may take up to four hours for your payment to be reported to our system by Safaricom or Postbank.
If you enter your MRV Fee Receipt Number but receive an error message or are otherwise unable to use it to schedule an appointment, DO NOT PAY AGAIN – additional MRV fee payments will not be refunded.

When you provide information to CSC's Visa Program service as part of the process for scheduling a United States visa interview, paying the United States visa application fee, or otherwise, CSC receives, and then provides your information to the United States Department of State, within the United States pursuant to its contract with the United States Department of State. CSC shares the information you provide with no party other than the United States Department of State and CSC subcontractors and vendors. CSC, CSC’s subcontractors, and CSC vendors may use the information you provide for no other purpose than supporting your United States visa application through CSC’s performance of its contract with the United States Department of State.
